Experienced rock musician, Matt Boroff, is back with some of his best work yet and the new album Grand Delusion. With other notable musicians such as Alain Johannes, Mark Lanegan and Jack Irons (former Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam drummer) joining Matt for the ride, you know that the album is going to deliver.
Boroff takes listeners on a sonic journey through wind-swept deserts to the edge of the abyss in Grand Delusion, all through his signature alt-rock stylings. The album explores some deep and concerning topics including the role of love in the new world, as well as nationalism and greed.
Matt’s distinctive baritone vocals power the songs on the album, but this isn’t without the help of driving guitar riffs and thumping drums, as exhibited on ‘What A Shame’. Along with flickering organ notes, screaming solos and head-banging grooves, Matt provides a challenge to the box-like idea of genres, seemingly developing his own musical space instead.
Boroff goes back a long way in the music scene having shared stages with the likes of Nirvana and Kyuss with his high school band, and supporting Queens of the Stone Age and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club with Matt Boroff and the Mirrors. Now, Matt is embarking on the solo path and his experience is certainly helping him create something unique and provocative with Grand Delusion.
Matt will be performing a headline show in London at the Old Blue Last February 6th.
